We will begin by understanding the sacredness and meaning of capturing the raw beauty of birth. From exploring your calling into this work to the role of a birth photographer, you will have a deep purpose to begin your journey. As well as an even bigger fire in your heart to help women hold on to the moments forever.

understanding birth

Together we will take a closer look at God's design for birth so you have a clear picture of this process and when to join your mamas. We will discuss your presence in the birth space, working alongside other professionals and how to handle unexpected situations as a birth photographer.

navigating the birth space

This module explores the key differences between home births, birth centers, and hospital births, offering guidance on collaborating with other birth professionals. Learn how to respond to intense or unexpected situations with calm and compassion, integrate your roles as both doula and photographer, and approach sensitive topics like bereavement and loss with care and professionals.

gear, settings, and shooting in low light

We will cover essential gear for capturing birth, equipment settings for all scenarios, and an in depth look at shooting in manual. Our goal is to help you master low light photography through assignments that will gently guide you as you build confidence in your skills.

the art of visual storytelling

In this section of the course we will cover storytelling through your lens and through your editing. I want to help you embrace your unique editing style and workflow. This section will include everything from storying telling through raw candid moments to editing software and creative hands-on practice.

starting your practice

We will help you embody becoming a birth photographer so you are ready to capture your first birth before you even finish this course. We will touch on finding clients, booking processes, contracts, as well as how to keep your cup full and faith strong in this work.
